Healthy Minds Project

In May 2010 the Healthy Minds project was established to meet the needs of the Travelling community in Cork city following a series of suicides. Two Traveller representative organisations, the Cork Traveller Women’s Network (CTWN) and Traveller Visibility Group (TVG), raised their concerns around these suicides with the Southern Area Traveller Health Unit (THU) and the HSE. And Healthy Minds was formed. As well as dealing with a crisis when it occurs Healthy Minds works specifically with the Traveller Community to prevent suicide by delivering a series of different training workshops like for e.g. “Mind Your Head”, which we collaborate with HAZ and Youth work Ireland on.
